For Your Information

I am a New York City-based writer and editor. I write about music, film, style, art, religion, race, extremism, and American politics. My stories focus on the cultural goo that forms when these things, and whatever else, collide together. I also write about the people and groups who move through these spaces.

My stories can be found in The New Yorker, The New York Times, GQ, The Baffler, New York Magazine, The New Republic, Ssense, Bookforum, Pitchfork, Dazed, and some others I won’t name here. Before switching to a full-time freelance career in 2018, I was a senior editor at Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine.

Here’s my selected writing.

In addition to my journalism, I work as a copywriter for a range of corporate and creative clients. I do things like UX copywriting and research, marketing emails, social media strategy and branded editorial.

Here’s my copywriting portfolio

I also produce music and have released a handful of albums (and sometimes forget that this music was, at one time, prominently displayed on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant). One story: During a four-week tour of Europe, I caught pneumonia and lost nearly 25 pounds — though, incredibly I think, not a show was cancelled.

Here’s my music, which is Off The Air.
